Holmes Construction Co. Inc. was founded in 1935 by John E. Holmes and has been continuously family owned and operated. His son, Hugh G. Holmes, took over the company next, followed by the current president Hugh G. Holmes, Jr. who began working for his father during the summer months at the young age of twelve.

Projects include the development of Marina Isles (off Marina Drive between 77th and 83rd Streets), Seaside Gardens, Bali Hai Resort, Via Roma Resort, Shell Point Condominiums, Island Shopping Center and Holmes Beach Business Center along with numerous island residences.
